Just keep them away from enemy ranged, because ap ranged like handgunners can make short work of them.

Gyros are going to be the closest you'll get to having cavalry, and brimstone gyros can actually be pretty decent in that role as long as you play them ranged cav. The Empire also received an update where the player is now able to appoint officials to offices, which makes you feel like you are in control of an actual empire. The problem with their playstyle is that this basically surrenders the battlefield initiative to the enemy, so you can run into issues when a highly mobile army like the Wood Elves starts flanking around your sides or harassing your ranged from behind. everything, and their playstyle really encourages you to sit still and absorb what the enemy can dish out. One misstep and suddenly you’re on the back foot for the rest of the campaign, even on easy difficulty. There’s so much to account for, from settlement building to army management. No idea why they went with that design decision. for all mortal followers of Chaos that fall within the scope of the table top miniatures game. If you’re at least fairly new to strategy games, Total War: Warhammer 2 can be a daunting experience. Empire not being able to make real alliances with the electoral counts is pretty terrible. Hard to choose a favorite among the other 3 as they played so differently. All had their charms and I thoroughly enjoyed all of them except the Empire.
